A: I would say, the Charger. Mopar or no car.

Q: 1968 or 1969 Dodge Charger Rebuild Kits?
I have wanted a 1968 or 1969 Dodge Charger for a long time. I know that when I do find one, it will need rebuilt. Since I dont own a car yet, I wont know what size the engine will be. I need a place that sells complete rebuild kits for the engines in 1968 or 69 Chargers. I am planing on one day, if I do find one, turning it into a Daytona clone. '68 Daytonas didnt factory exist, but clones I have seen one the internet are just as good looking as a factory '69. I have always wanted a 6 pack. I am a Mopar man myself, and the three duces have never done anybody wrong. If I cant find a six pack, I will just swap one in! Darrell K: 1. You know nothing about the Daytonas! They were only built in 1969! You are thinking of the similar Plymouth Superbird. 2. I have found a lot of places that sell fiberglass parts to clone Daytonas, that run under $1000. 3. I know the 440 only came in 1970, but a lot of guys in my area swap them, and it is awesome to see. 4. I know it will need more than just a rebuild. I just want to get it running when I do find one. I dont care as much about the body as I do the engine.

A: anyone sells engine kits for those cars,id wait and see what the car had in it before i went looking for parts, finding a good deal on a 69 is going to be hard enough, and i don't think you,ll find one that it will be that easy as just rebuilding the engine in,you may find one minus an engine,or one to restore, there plenty of places to buy parts from on those, you may have to find an engine for one before you have something to rebuild, and those had different engines in them, they didn't come with one engine size, first find the car then we can help you, good luck.

Q: Hi ,I am really considering buying a 1968-70 standart dodge charger project car ,but i am wondering?
can you fit any engine to these cars ,an R/T 440 for example

A: yes, swapping to a different size engine such as a big block mopar engine is a fairly simple deal. However, some engine mounts may need to be modified or new ones purchansed. There are several sources online who sell these. They are not overly pricey. Otherwise the only other issue is wiring which can also simply be purchased.

Q: 1968 dodge chargers?
This is for anybody who's got a 1968 - 71 dodge charger! Tell me what ya think of em? Is there anybody selling one and how much?

A: i own a repair shop, and i just sold mine the other day,i got tired of not having the time to finish restoring it,but it was a good car mine had the 440 in it,from the factory and it ran really good,it was pretty much all original but i did like the way it drove, all i have left now is a 1971 dodge challenger,i may sell it before long ,it all depends ,good luck i hope this help,s.

Q: dodge charger restoration question...?
Hi. I Found a abandoned 1968 dodge charger. I can get it very very cheap, but its in pretty bad shape... the car hasn't been running for years, and all the paint is gone, like I said... very bad shape but I can get it for a few dollars. Now I don't know a thing about restoration or muscle cars in general. But If i get this car, how much will it cost me to restore it, just an ball park figure. It would definetly need some engine work also. The car definetly has potential if it would be in good shape. Is it worth it to buy it and invest money in it? Thanks ;)

A: at this vary moment a buddy and I are also restoring a 68 charger. the car was in vary bad shape (rust lots of rust) and the motor (440) was shot. so far we have spent about $3000 on motor work but if your motor in in decent shape i would figure in about $1500 to $2000. the reason ours was so expensive was because the cylinders where seized and the motor had to be bored out (bigger cylinders & pistons) whitch gets exspensive. as for the body work all the floor pans had to be replaced inclueding the trunk floor(cost for all floor pieces was about $650). as for the rest of the car it needed a left front fender a right rear quarter panle a hood bolth bumpers and we also picked up all new bushings and weather stripping the cost for all of that ran us about $1500 you may be able to find some parts a little cheaper if you go to some swap meets or get lucky on ebay. we found all the exterior part at swap meets. as for the floor pans we could not find anyone who had them so we had to by them new. as for everything else its kinda up in the air with all the tools and other genral parts you need like nuts bolts and things like that well hope this helps

Q: Is there anyone out there in Colorado or Washington State that owns a old beat up 1969 Dodge Charger?
I am looking for a 1968-1976 Dodge Charger that needs restoring. We are soon opening our own mechanic shop and i want to restore my first car (i'm 14). If you own a old beat up Charger or know someone who does, leave e-mail address. I would like it to preferably have its original engine (440 Magnum). Please if you have any information of a 1968-1976 Dodge Charger R/t email me at, midgetboy_2005@yahoo.com. Thanks in advance,

A: Chargers are hard to come by. But my advice to you is drive the back roads out in the country. You'll find many old beat up cars, and many not all the beat up. Mostly just rusted. And people who own those cars really dont care much about those cars they just left them there to rot. I bought a 55 Dodge for 550. Car hunting for a specific car if hard. For something like a CHarger is even harder. But you never know what you'll run into. Good luck, happy hunting.

Q: Dodge charger driving? broad question sorry?
hi i am considering buying and restoring a 1968-70 dodge charger, and was wondering what they are like to drive when fully restored, how do they handle?does the engine settle down in the 4th gear of a manual?,and finally what kind of speeds do they reach

A: I owned a Charger R/T 440 magnum. It said 150 on speedo and would do every inch of it. Down shift to 3rd at 70 mph and burn rubber on acceleration.. 80mph 4th set you back in the seat if you floored it.. A real'hot rod' passed everything on the road----except a gas station. Real smart looking car. Had an, I thought, unusual external oil pump. Mounted on forward engine on drivers side. Get it and restore it.

A: those were good years for dodge and those year models will certainly hold and increase value but if your used to driving newer cars then it will most defiantly handle and drive much different first you will have alot of low end torque but it will not handle corners anywhere near as well as newer vehicles do as far as the top speed that just depends on the type of transmission was put in it most cars built for low end power do not have the best top speeds usually the transmission's highest gear ratio is only 1:1 but they will come out of the gate alot faster than you think good luck

Q: Dodge Charger vs Subaru Impreza?
1968-1974 Dodge Charger Muscle car vs an late 90's- early Subaru Impreza WRX/WRX STi Really which one is in your mind cooler: Dodge or Subaru? Which one has more room? Which one's cheaper? Which one's less commonly found on the road? Biased answers are allowed!!!! lol

A: I'm partial to older muscle cars. The Dodge Charger, back in its day was a great piece of machinery. Depending on the motor, tranny, and colors; I would go with the Charger. Style wise: the charger is bolder and more aggressive looking. The Subaru is conformed to meet aerodynamic guidelines from the manufacturer. Thus giving it a better fuel economy rating. I dont like the style or any of the colors that came with the Impreza. If you need room go for the Subaru. Its basically a small station wagon. The Dodge Charger can fit 5 but you usually only need it for 2. Price: The older muscle is going to be more expensive, simply because of the fact that its now a classic. With slowly rising gas prices, and the fect that the charger isnt good with gas, means that the operating cost of the vehicle is going to be higher. Plus, if you plan on doing any work on it, or modifiying it in any way that will be pricey too, but it's worth it. And finally since you're talking about the older muscle car. That is the one that will turn heads when driving through town. Especially if the engine is running nice and pretty. The sound of a nice dual carb v-8 engine is THE sweetest sound a car can make. The thunder of raw horse-power being unleashed is astounding. GO FOR THE CHARGER!

Q: I'm looking for dodge restoration parts in Tokoma, Washington?
I'm looking for interior parts for a 1968 Dodge Charger

A: Best parts are at: New; http://www.yearone.com Used: http://www.hemmings.com/ Good luck!

Q: what is your favorite year of the dodge charger?
I would have to go with the 1968-69 body style and performance with the bigger engines. those cars are classic and the new chargers do not deserve the name "charger" they have very little similarities. The old chargers were 2 door muscle cars, not 4 door family sedans with only automatic transmissions. also, just out of curiosity, can i get your age with your answer?

A: I liked the 1968-1969 Dodge Chargers the best. Probably didn't hurt that I owned one either. Mine was a General Lee clone. Though I never jumped the car it did get lots of attention. I also had the Dixie Horn as well. I now wish I would have kept the car but that was a long time ago. I got the car when I was quite young... Even before I could actually drive. My dad painted the body orange while my mom had the harder task of the 01 and the rebel flag atop of the roof along with the general lee wording along side of the flag. If I remember correctly my mom had first made cardboard cutouts of the 01 then she traced these onto the doors. While the rebel flag she had just traced that on the roof freehand along with the General Lee wording as well. She painted the 01 on the doors along with the flag, stars and the General Lee wording. The end result was truly astonishing... You wouldn't have believed that my Charger hadn't come from the Warner Brothers Studios. It looked awsome indeed. I had taken several pictures of the car to remember it by. I do believe my dad had bought the car for $100. The owners wanted it out of their yard. As to the new Chargers... They have no business being called Charger at all. The new ones look nothing like the old ones. Who ever heard of a four door Charger!!! nonsense indeed!!!. My age is 35 and I am partial to Mopar proudcts.
