A: Depending on your budget, you can't go wrong with a Gen III engine. You can go anywhere from the 5.7 LS1 to the 7.0 C5R engine. YearOne makes a kit to put this engine in your car! (link below) There are several advantages to these engines. First, the head design of these engines is superior to Gen 1 and 2 engines, especially for power on a budget. A traditional SBC has 23 degree heads, while a Gen 3 has 15 degree for better airflow. Second, the LS1 (5.7), LS2 (6.0), LS3 (6.2), LS6 (5.7), and LS7 (7.0) are all aluminum engines...and will shave about 150 lbs off the front of your car, assuming you have an iron block/head engine now. That might not seem like a lot, but believe me, you will notice the difference. Third, they are fuel injected and will give great throttle response and fuel mileage. Also, if you could find a wrecked car to get parts from, you could get an ECU, transmission and engine together and make life simple. Just to give you an idea about power and economy, my 99 Formula has an LS1 that delivers 440hp to tires, it has a 4L60E automatic, and 3.23 gears. The car will go 11.6 in the quarter all motor, 10.7 on bottle, and gets 26 mpg on the highway with the cruise set at 70...with the a/c on! The car now has 88,000 miles and has been driving fairly hard since 20,000. It has been well maintained, but not babied...it's still going strong.

A: 16 mpg in town. 19 on the freeway. If you coax it along and don't punch the gas, the V6 could do 20 all day. No one with a Camaro ever drives slow, tho.

A: Well being 5th gen aint out in mass pro yet. It's hard to rate those just based on what road test info is out there. Best can mean alot.. There's no one generation camaro that does everything well. 1st and second gen had the power (up till '74 at least), but didn't handle too well, The later 4th gens had the power The third gen had the best handling out of all of them, but power in stock form sucked.. Third gen and 1st gen was the lightest ones Second gen was the heaviest To me, based on opinion the second gen had the best looks The 4th gen was the hardest to work on, and mod The third and 4th gens had the weakest rear ends As you see, it just depends on what your looking for.. Myself I wanted light weight, good handling, and quick 1/4 mile times.. So I started with a 1988 camaro (third gen) and modded it to fit my needs.. Rebuild 350 (355), 10.18:1 compression, 4bbl carb, th-400 trans, 2800 stall, ford 9" rear with 3.89 gears, re worked suspension, etc, etc and got a street car that handles like its on rails, drive it anywhere, run 11.40's @ 118 at the drag strip

A: 1993 camaro has the metric th700r4 with lockup torque converter and the f body specific tail shaft with the bosses for the torque arm between the tranny and rear end/differential if you have a v6 you can use any tranny from 93-96 if you have the lt1 you will need the v8 version form 93-98

A: From the dealer as a trade in? Not too much. But if you can find one locally- it will have lost tons of value. You could probabley find one for 14 locally after a year. At the dealer, a couple grand less- probabley 18 at the least.

If the GTA was a stock 350, 5.7 tpi and the Camaro was a stock Base model. Or if the Camaro was a stock Z28 or SS? Wich one would you think would win?

A: The '87 GTA used the same engine as the Chevy Z28 IROC a 5.7 ltr V8 and it had 225 horsepower (which was a lot back then), and the 2001 Camaro had a base V6 that was close to 200 horses. The 01' Z28 used the LS1 (the same engine block as a Corvette), that 5.7 V8 that was stock at 275 horses and the SS was using forced (ram) air and was at least 305 horses. Now a good race would be the 1989 GTA Indy 500 Pace Car (which was turbocharged) and was rated around 255 horses (but that was conservative), and let it run against the 2001 Camaro SS (which was not turbocharged), though the 01' has more raw power, never underestimate the power of turbo.

A: You can get a car that looks like bumblebee for about $23000 sticker, You can get a car that looks and will have the engine that was in the one in the movie for about $40000 sticker. I would wait a few months for the demand to die back some most dealers are talking about 20000 over sticker for the high end cars but as with the charger that will soon wear off. waiting will save yourself money and wait for the demand to die just a bit once it does go in and order one from the factory at your local chevy dealer.

The problem started this morning. The tranny shifts from 1st to 2nd fine. Then instead of shifting into 3rd, it goes to neutral instead of engaging the gear. What are some of the things that could be wrong other than the tranny being fried.

A: It will be on the trim tag, driver side cowl area. The option code for Z/28 will be dead center of the plate. If it was originally ordered with racing stripes it will be something like Z28 YF8 and Also, if it is an original Z/28 the fifth digit of the VIN# will be a "T".
